Campaign OverviewFor more than ten years now, the results of the 1990 elections in Burma which swept the National League for Democracy led by Aung San Suu Kyi to victory have been ignored. Few regimes in the world today are more repressive than the State Peace and Development Council (SPDC) in Burma. In 1988, there was a bloody military crackdown on the democracy movement. In Burma today, opposition and dissent is brutally crushed, civil organisations such as trade unions suppressed, forced labour and forced relocation is nationwide.
