Burma Campaigns

Washington based, this web site was founded in 1995 by a group of Burmese and American graduate students. If aims to build support for the National League for Democracy and promotes activism through a series of actions and suggestions.

Exiled Government

After the National League for Democracy (NLD) won a resounding victory in the 1990 elections, the ruling military junta launched a systematic campaign to prevent the NLD from forming a government. NCGUB was formed in December 1990 and is constituted by elected members of parliament in exile.

News & Information

The BurmaNet News is an on-line newspaper covering Burma and is published in English and Burmese.

Magazine published by the Irrawaddy Publishing Group (IPG). IPG was established in 1992 by Burmese citizens living in exile. The Irrawaddy seeks to promote press freedom and access to unbiased information on Burma and Asia.

Burma Debate, a publication of the Burma Project of the Open Society Institute, is dedicated to providing an ongoing forum for commentary and analysis of issues concerning Burma.

Human Rights

Amnesty International is a worldwide campaigning movement that works to promote all the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international standards.

Human Rights Watch stands with victims and activists to prevent discrimination, to uphold political freedom, to protect people from inhumane conduct in wartime, and to bring offenders to justice.

Environment

EarthRights International assembles on-the-ground information about the human rights and environmental situation inside Burma, feeding this information into international efforts to isolate the regime and bring about democracy in Burma.

Australian Sites

The ABSDF is an organization representing students throughout Burma in their struggle to achieve human rights and democracy. The students of Burma are recognized as the leading force fighting against the dictatorial military regime, and the Front counts all Burmese ethnic nations and classes among their membership.

FNLDA was formed to provide a solidarity group in New South Wales supporting the National League for Democracy's struggle to take up its rightful place as the government of Burma, and the role of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi in that struggle.
