Please write and let Australia's politicians know your position on this issue.

Please write, fax or email John Howard, Alexander Downer, Kim Beazley, Kevin Rudd and your local member today, stating that you believe:-

· Australia should negotiate in good faith with East Timor over the boundary between the two countries. These negotiations should be completed as quickly as possible, and Australia should abide by any ruling of the International Court of Justice and the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea.

· Australia should not pressure East Timor to also ratify a similar Greater Sunrise Unitisation Agreement Amendment Bill, as this could prejudice East Timor's future maritime boundaries.

· Until the border issue is settled, East Timor and Australia should be joint leaseholders and jointly share in the benefits of any exploration lease or commercial contract that Australia has issued in the contested boundary area since the East Timor independence ballot in 1999. If retrospective adjustments cannot be made, Australia should make economic restitution.
