Join us in Dili - Our Work Our Lives Conference 2011

The 4th conference on women and industrial relations will be held September 1-2 at the Arbiru Beach Resort, Bebonuk, Dili, Timor-Leste.
The conference is an opportunity for international and Timorese organisations and individuals to share their experience of gender and work and will include academics, policy makers, practitioners, and unions.
Program
The program is designed to bring together national and international expertise and experience and will include:
- Speaking Book - the oral histories of women working in Timor-Leste
- 'Agora' panel discussion - of the Australian and Timorese experience of building sustainable communities through women's workforce participation
- Official launch of Working Women's Centre Timor-Leste
The conference themes will focus on:
- Women in precarious or vulnerable work
- Women's access to their rights and entitlements
- Progress towards decent work in the Asia Pacific
- Building sustainable communities through women's workforce participation
Speakers
We are proud to announce that confirmed speakers include:
- Ged Kearney, President of the Australian Council of Trade Unions who will speak on The importance of women's community sector organisations and their connections to the trade union movement
- Senator Jacinta Collins: Australian Federal Parliamentary Secretary for School Education and Workplace Relations who will speak on Women's access to their rights and entitlements: the equal pay case for social and community sector workers
The inaugural Our Work Our Lives conference was held in 2006 in Queensland, Australia, organised by the Queensland Working Women's Centre and Griffith University, the second was in 2007 in Adelaide, organised by the South Australia Working Women's Centre and the latest conference was organised by the Northern Territory Working Women's Centre, with the academic support of the University of Western Australia.
The 4th Our Work Our Lives conference is proudly presented by Working Women's Centre Timor-Leste with the support of the Australian Network of Working Women's Centers, the University of South Australia and the Queensland University of Technology.
