Vocational Training
The Vocational Training Centre was initiated by SAWA-Australia in consultation with OPAWC. It was planned to open its doors in February 2008, but heavy snow made it impossible for the women to reach the centre. Classes started finally in March with three teachers and an initial 90 students.
Demand for the centre's services is far greater than its capacity, but the centre has been expanded slightly and can now cater for 150 students at a time. Project reports for 2008 and 2009 are available at the SAWA-Australia website.
In September 2010 SAWA-Australia and Union Aid Abroad-APHEDA signed a Letter of Agreement to work in partnership with the aim to support of the Centre.
