Earthquake in Indonesia - 29 May 2006
An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale shook the Yogyakarta area in Indonesia at 5:50am on Saturday 27 May 2006. The centre of the quake was under the seabed south of Java. The worst hit areas were the Bantul and Klaten districts and the south of Yogyakarta city. Collapsed buildings have taken the lives of over 5,000 and injured many hundreds more. It is estimated that 200,000 people are homeless and in need of emergency assistance....
