Gifts That Change Lives

$100 Cambodia - Fish farming
This gift can give 30 Cambodian families fingerlings (young fish) to grow in their household pond. These fingerlings, when fully grown, will provide families with both nutrition and a source of income.*
Since the Khmer Rouge’s genocide in the late 1970s, Cambodia’s economic situation has slowly improved. Despite this, 36 per cent of Cambodians still live on less than 50 cents a day, and many more not far above that ‘poverty line’. Rural people make up aproximately ninety percent of Cambodia’s poor. They have low incomes, poor nutritional status, low levels of education, less access to schools and health services, and few economic opportunities. HIVAIDS remains a serious concern as the prevalence rate continues to be high. *
