The strength of Union Aid Abroad lies in the passion of its members and activists. By coming together with other Union Aid Abroad people in your community, you can show your solidarity with workers and communities fighting for justice and equality around the world.
The Annual Melbourne Union Aid Abroad – APHEDA Dinner attracted more than 200 guests to mark the twenty year anniversary of their 1999 referendum, and to celebrate the long-standing solidarity between Australian unionists and the people of Timor Leste.
In Perth, the Union Aid Abroad – APHEDA community of unionists, activists, and internationalists came together to fundraise for the cause of global justice. Their efforts raised over $3,000!
At the 2019 Melbourne Annual Dinner, guest speaker Elsa ‘Uka’ Pinto addressed the audience on the continuing tradition of solidarity between the Australian and Timorese people.
In Brisbane, twenty-three cyclists and their support crew came together in South Brisbane for the third annual Big Ride for Palestine! The ride raised over $9,000 for Union Aid Abroad – APHEDA projects in Palestine.

At the 2019 Annual APHEDA Dinner, more than three hundred unionists, internationalists, and activists came together in Sydney to celebrate global solidarity! We heard our guest speaker, Naw K’nyaw Paw, give the keynote speech on “The Importance of Solidarity“.
In August this year, special guest speaker Naw K’nyaw Paw will be in Australia to speak about the struggle for justice for the Karen people, the fight for women’s rights in the refugee camps, the stories of Karen refugees along the Thai-Myanmar border, and the pursuit of peace and security in Myanmar.
