Australian unionists raise record amount for Cambodian women’s unions!

Jul 31, 2019

When Australian unionists are asked to lend a hand, they don’t doubt for a second.

Last month, we asked you to stand with Cambodian women and their unions as they enter into an uncertain future. And the response you’ve shown confirms what we already know, that Australian unionists know how to act in solidarity.

This year, you raised over $50,000 dollars – an APHEDA record!

Your contributions will go to our partner unions in Cambodia that are fighting for decent, safe, and secure work for women workers.

With trade agreements between Cambodia and Europe under review, Cambodian women are not only facing the prospect of job losses, but they are defending themselves against growing repression of workers’ rights.

The contributions that you have raised will show Cambodian women workers that they are not alone in their fight for dignified work, that their fight is our fight.

Missed the appeal?

You can still support strong women’s unions in Cambodia by becoming a member of Union Aid Abroad, the global justice organisation of the Australian union movement.
