In Memoriam – Nguyễn Xuan Lâm (APHEDA Vietnam)

Mar 31, 2021

We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden and tragic death in a bus accident, of our much loved staff member from the Vietnam Union Aid Abroad-APHEDA Office, Mr Nguyễn Xuan Lâm on the 25th March 2021.

Lâm was working in the APHEDA team almost 3 years in the role of Communications and Advocacy Specialist in the Hanoi office, focusing on the eliminating asbestos related disease campaign. In that time, he made a big impression on all who knew him and especially the APHEDA Vietnam office staff Hang, Thu and Thao and those he worked with in the region and Australia.

Lâm’s passion at work was media and communication including photography and this was clearly demonstrated in his great work on the eliminating asbestos disease campaign in Vietnam and also helping out in the region. His warmth, enthusiasm and cheeky humour were up front in everything he did. His high contribution in supporting the asbestos ban campaign and broader work of APHEDA in Vietnam and the region, will be deeply, deeply missed.

We would like to express our deep condolences to Lâm’s wife, their 4-year-old daughter, his parents in Hanoi and colleagues at the APHEDA Vietnam Office.

If you would like to send a message of condolence to Lâm’s family or help out in other ways (like making a contribution to the APHEDA Staff GroupTogether collection to support his young family), please contact Phillip Hazelton.

*Note: the GroupTogether collection is an initiative set up by APHEDA staff and is not related to APHEDA’s projects nor is it tax-deductible.
