Union Aid Abroad has a packed schedule of public events in August and September. In addition to the Global Solidarity Dinner in Sydney on September 12, here are some other August activities in Brisbane and Sydney – please join us!
ALP National Conference Fringe
Union Aid Abroad is co-hosting two events as part of the Labor Fringe program in Brisbane on August 17-19. In conjunction with Labor for Aid, the Australian Council for International Development and a range of other Australian non-government organisations, these events are open to both conference delegates and the broader public.
On Thursday, August 17, at 3.30pm, APHEDA Executive Officer Kate Lee will be joined by AFCID CEO Marc Purcell and others to discuss how Australia’s official development assistance can make the world a safer place.
After that, a social event with drinks will be held at 4.30pm. A brief introduction from Minister for International Development Pat Conroy and Oxfam CEO Lyn Morgain will be followed by a chance to catch up with friends and colleagues.
We invite all Union Aid Abroad supporters to join us at either of these fabulous events if you are in Brisbane for the conference. RSVPs via laborfringe.org.au.
Fundraiser for LION Indonesia’s asbestos work
Among these supporters were Maddy, Nick and Bella who visited LION while they were in Bandung earlier this year. While there, they discussed LION’s need for additional equipment to monitor asbestos contamination. The three of them are now organising a fundraiser in Sydney to buy this equipment and share the impact of LION’s important work.
The event includes a panel discussion and a short film screening. It will be held at 6pm on Thursday August 24 at the MUA building in 365-375 Sussex St, Sydney. Come along, learn about LION’s fantastic efforts and share a drink with comrades, all for a good cause. Please RSVP at this link.
