Women’s contribution to the agricultural sector in Gaza – radio interview

In January 2021, Union Aid Abroad – APHEDA’s Gaza Coordinator, Hana Abu Nahla, was interviewed on Radio Gaza FM 100.9 about women’s contribution to the agricultural sector in Gaza. The interview is in Arabic with general overview of the project below.

APHEDA is working with Oxfam and our partners MA’AN Development Center and the Palestinian Businesswomen’s Association – ASALA to raise awareness of women’s hidden roles in agriculture and the unequal burden they carry of unpaid care and domestic work. Women’s farming roles are often seen as complementary to their main role as carers and therefore unpaid and less valued. This is despite evidence that women make a significant contribution to the agricultural sector. This leads to inequality in inheritance and ownership of land and decision-making. APHEDA and our partners are working to draw attention to this through a digital campaign, radio talk shows and an upcoming documentary film.
